This is the one and only picture from The Lower Lights show that I have. And that's okay, because I have all the treasured moments in my memory. [if you have pictures you want to share with me, feel free to email me :]
Saturday was one of the best days of my life. Up there with getting married. Up there with the births of my children. There were moments during this show when I thought to myself, "This is heaven on earth." People were singing along to hymns, families were clapping along with music, couples were swinging in the aisles, a little girl was twirling in her tutu, a 12 year old boy was dancing with his mother. That's what I imagine heaven will be like.
The treasured moments I'll always keep with me:
+ Deb Fotheringham singing 'Be Thou My Vision.' It was breathtaking.
+ Mark Smith's mandolin throughout the show. So beautiful.
+ Ryan Tanner's absolute kindness to me and my family.
+ Sarah Sample leading us all on 'Orphan Girl' to close the show.
+ Dustin Christensen's story telling + delivery on 'Tis So Sweet To Trust in Jesus'
+ Announcing my next show with Paul Jacobsen on stage. [more details to come!]
+ Brian Hardy's harmony on 'Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me' and the way he hooks the note on "pilot".
+ Scott Wiley's red electric guitar and the way he humbly takes the background vocals.
+ Talking with Colin Botts about his upcoming album and his wicked cool modified washtub bass.
+ Listening to my daughters rave about George Brunt's awesome glasses.
+ Watching Aaron Anderson and Darin LeSueur work the percussion together.
+ The hours of work Joe Anderson gave to make sure the sound was perfect.
+ Nick Simpson being patient with me while we figured out the merchandise tables.
+ The entire audience on their feet for 'This Little Light of Mine'.
+ The emotional moment I shared with a very dear friend.
When I think about these musicians leaving their families and traveling up here to share their talent with us, I am grateful. When I think about all of the help that many offered me to make this happen, I am grateful. The friends who brought dinner for the group, I am grateful.
Last night, as we were headed to a family event, my oldest, Madeline, said to me, "Mom, I can't get 'This Little Light of Mine' out of my head. The whole time they sang that song, I had a grin on my face and felt so joyful."
And that, folks, is why I will continue to bring family friendly music events to this area!
