Christmas Card 2010.

Now that it's been a few days since I mailed our cards, I'm pretty sure it's safe to share them here.

A couple of months ago, I saw a manifesto on my favorite website, Pinterest, and I instantly knew that I wanted to create a Christmas manifesto for my family. A public declaration of all the things we believe in and love to do each Christmas season...

Our principles:
+ love one another
+ do good
+ be cheerful

Our policies:
+ give gifts
+ sing
+ celebrate

Our intentions:
+ play yahtzee
+ watch Christmas movies
+ build gingerbread houses

and SEND CARDS!

I've sent Christmas cards every year of our marriage [16 years] and handmade them for the last 11 years. It's one of my favorite traditions and I think of all the time and effort spent as a gift to those on my list.

Receiving Christmas cards in the mail is also a favorite of mine, and I save EVERY single card, and have quite a stack saved up from year to year. I love to look through them, and display some of my past favorites every year.

I am looking into commissioning this manifesto into a large, letter-pressed poster size, so that I can frame it and hang it in our home every Christmas.

+ Do you send Christmas cards?
+ Do you love to receive them?

We got your card yesterday and as I expected...I LOVED it! Love your Manifesto and love the sweet picture of your kids. They are all so beautiful! (not to mention SO grown up...all of them!)

Thank you for thinking of us!

We haven't sent cards for 3 years and this year finally got on the ball and did it. Well, if you consider "on the ball" to mean that I mailed them yesterday... Anyway, it feels good to send them out and hope they will bring a bit of Christmas cheer to each recipient.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE receiving them. I display each family's picture on the side of our fridge. I love seeing so many sweet families and faces of our friends and family. It makes me happy all year long!

Hi!
I am loving your blog. Not sure how I found it...I used to be a HUGE music person and since having kids it has fallen by the wayside...until now. I am loving your mixes. Have a great Christmas! Peace, Love, Joy!

I know I already told you, but seriously, my jaw dropped when I saw your card. It was not only beautiful, but so creative! My favorite touch was the check mark next to 'send cards'.

Merry Christmas Marilyn!

great manifesto. :)

yes & yes to your questions.
each day i go to the mailbox and
find a new treasured card, all the
"grrrrrr!" from that day or moments prior, simply melt away. they're
my favorite gifts to receive.
so, since they do so much for me,
we still send them out as well, in hope that they provide even a
smidgen of the same service to others.

Hey Marilyn, I know this is a little late but I just wanted you to know how much I LOVED your Christmas cards this year! They were so personalized with your family's favorites, and they turned out beautiful! I love the idea of making a Christmas poster out of it every year. And to answer your questions, yes I always keep the Christmas cards people send and hang them for all to see :) I find myself standing in front of our fridge a lot more admiring all the cute familys!
