It's been a little while since I did a big ol' music post, and there is a bunch of new music I can't wait to share with you. So here are a few songs that I can't seem to stop listening to and the albums that are worth checking out:
Can't Get You Out of My Mind - Aqualung. Track 3 from this new album. I've always loved his music, but this entire album has such a great sound...dare I say, Beatles-esque?
No One Said This Would Be Easy - The Postmarks. Track 1 from this really unique album. This new-to-me group has a very distinctive sound and I still have a lot of listening to go with this 17 track album.
Relator - Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson. Maybe my favorite song in this lineup. I tried to like Scarlett's debut album, but my ears wouldn't let me. This coupling with Pete Yorn on the other hand, is a different story. Their voices work together so well and the simple arrangements are just the kind of music Scarlett should stick to.
Heartbeat Radio - Sondre Lerche. I sort of fell in love with Lerche after watching
this movie, so I was thrilled to see a new release from him. I am not disappointed. His quirky style is refreshing. I also really love track 9, I Guess It's Gonna Rain Today.
Everybody - Ingrid Michaelson. I could put this song on repeat and listen all day long. Indie darling Ingrid is so talented it BLOWS my mind. She seems to have a never ending supply of wonderful lyrics and catchy melodies in that pretty little head of hers. This album is a must buy!
While My Guitar Gently Weeps - AM featuring Tina Dico. Where do I begin with this song? One of my most favorite Beatles songs ever, and this cover may even trump the original version. AM is a new artist to me, but I've been a fan of Dico for a while now. This duet is gorgeous! And there are a couple of other songs from this album that I love as well.
Happier - A Fine Frenzy. A lovely song. I've listened through this album a couple of times now, and it has taken me some time to really love it. It's a bit of a departure from her debut album which I loved, but slowly, I am loving this release as well.
** Ultimately this post is a little preview for the October mix. Enjoy!
