I just returned home from my children's school where I was helping at a bake sale. A three day event where the children and teachers bring their coins and buy thoughtfully baked brownies and carefully wrapped caramel corn balls in an effort to raise money for a family in our community who recently lost two sons in a horrific car accident.
I left the school today with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
I am thankful for:
~ the opportunity to live in a small, tight-knit community. We are small, but we are strong.
~ my husband who is my very best friend. We saw Fireproof yesterday, and it felt so good to sit next to him and watch a movie about strengthening marriage. Not the best acting ever, but the best message ever, for sure.
~ Madeline, who is trying so hard to do her best in school. It is still a struggle but, her teachers see her giving 100% and it makes us so happy.
~ Jocelyn, who tries to make the right decisions, even when it's hard.
~ Ethan, whose old fashioned ways just make me smile every single day. I really love that boy!
~ Lily, whose smile beams so brightly when I walk in to help in her classroom.
~ The Conference Edition of the Ensign. I love reading the articles over, but especially the ones that I never had the chance to hear from the Priesthood Session. My favorite so far... Lift Where You Stand.
~ The couch to 5k running program. I am doing it and it's not impossible for me, so I am hopeful that I will be able to run most of the Cable Bridge Run in December...we'll see.
~ All of the blessings I have. Family, friends, home, car, food, clothing, money. Really, I have no need to want for anything.
