On High Rotation

It never ceases to amaze me the endless and endless supply of incredible music. New, old, acclaimed, and practically undiscovered. There's just so much great music out there that is beautiful and inspiring and even uplifting.

Here are four albums that I have found recently that I am lovin' SO much. They are getting high rotation on my iPod.

1. "Where I Stood-EP" by Missy Higgins. This Australian artist has me entranced by her thick accent and beautiful voice. Her lyrics are gorgeous. This 4 track EP is a great way to get introduced to her music, but my favorite Missy Higgins song is actually from her album "On a Clear Night" and it is called "Sugarcane." I have only found a 30 second music code for this song, but it is there in todays playlist. Listen to it, and I dare you not to be compelled to put down the 99 cents for that tune. It is gorgeous.

2. "The Ashes Bloom" by Reed KD. Holy cow this guy is so awesome. I love the songs "Empty Bottle" and "Even If I", but every track is perfection. Love it! Love it! Love it!

3. "Once" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. If you watched the Academy Awards last night, then you know who these musicians/actors are. They won for Best Original Song for the song "Falling Slowly" (in my playlist) which is on the "Once" movie soundtrack. I watched this movie this weekend (with my clearplay machine, of course) and I liked it a lot. It wasn't really Brandon's cup of tea. It was very low budget and slow, but for me, the musically obsessed, it was 86 minutes of enjoyment. And with the clearplay editor, the rated R movie was transformed into a wonderful PG movie. So good. I had previewed the music on iTunes a while ago, but wasn't hooked, until I saw the movie. Now, I can't stop listening to it. I can't even pick a favorite song, it's that good. And it deserved to win.

4. "I Know What You're Up To" by Willoughby. If you like really mellow, but beautiful and funky music, then chances are good that you'll eat this album up. This group is just a special kind of cool. My favorite songs from the album are "Frankenstein", "Intentions", "Losing You", and "Story." Really, every song is good, and this is the kind of music I love to listen to as I do dishes and laundry and well...actually...I'll listen to this when I am doing just about anything.

There's some new music picks for your Monday morning. Enjoy!
