Handmade with love...

It's about time I share some of the lovely handmade gifts I received this past Christmas. One of the things I love most about handmade things is that I always imagine the person making it and the time they spent and the care they took. It's nice to think of someone working on that specific item from start to finish, creating and detailing their work.

It's much more pleasant to think about that rather than something being manufactured in a factory. Although I did receive some great manufactured items as well, like my sewing machine (thanks Brandon), and some monogrammed teacups (thanks Danyelle).

Here's a peek at the handmade goodness that came my way...

I participated in a favorite things swap and it was awesome. I had so much fun putting my package together to send to an art student in Minnesota and in return I received these items from her...

A letter pressed calendar that she made herself

She also made this book herself, which has the most beautiful handmade pages in it. After reading this post, I know exactly what I will do with it.

Yep, she got me the earrings I've been drooling over for months and months and months. Flirty Verdigris from one of my favorite Etsy shops. They are just as beautiful in person.

Then Danyelle spoiled me with this handmade apron...
Lovely Lindsay made this apron and I love the fabric of course, but it's the detailed stitching, the perfect pleats, the pocket, and the little loop to hang a kitchen towel on that had me at hello! I have yet to meet her, but I already believe she is indeed lovely. And a CD may be in her near future...

My dear mother is a very talented person, and one of her many talents is sewing. She can sew ANYTHING. She made a lot of aprons and this is the one she made for me. It looks so great hanging in my kitchen and I love the paisley pattern.
I asked her to make me some pillows and she went a step farther. She hand appliqued these soft, comfy pillows with fabric from a coat that was my grandfathers. That corduroy and flannel fabric will remind me of Grandpa M. every time I look at them.
Handmade Rocks!
