Girls Rule!

So first of all, American Idol, I was SO SAD to see Gina go last night. She deserved to stay for at least a couple more weeks. America what are you thinking???? And how about my boy Michael Buble? He was pretty adorable, wasn't he?

So, I have found a few new (to me) artists whose music I like. Guess what? They are all women! I definitely have more men's music in my music collection, but these artists have beautiful, gritty voices that I am lovin'.

First is Canadian born Chantal Kreviazuk (read about her here). She has been on the music scene for a while, but her new album titled "Ghost Stories" which was just released a couple of weeks ago, has a few songs that I love. Check out....

  • Ghosts of You
  • All I Can Do
  • Time
  • Wonderful
She has some older songs that are recognizable and pretty great as well, such as today's song of the day, "Feels Like Home", and "Weight of the World" which was on the movie Flicka. I think she has a nice voice. She, however, is probably more famous for her songwriting ability. She has co-written a ton of songs for stars like Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Mandy Moore, and Hilary Duff. Check her out.
Second is The Ditty Bops. I heard about them a few months ago, those of you who are die hard Grey's Anatomy fans probably already knew of them a long time ago. Six of their songs have been used on the show. On iTunes, they are classified as country, rock or pop. I would call them quirky. They are definitely worth checking out if you like fun music, here are my favorites...
  • There's a Girl
  • Fall Awake
  • Growing Upside Down
  • Walk or Ride
  • Gentle Sheep
Last, but not least, is a somewhat questionable artist by the name of Amy Winehouse. A few months ago, iTunes gave away her single "You Know I'm No Good" as a free download. She is a seriously talented singer, the problem is she looks like a hooker, dresses like a hooker, has tatoos, and flings curse words left and right. I love her voice though and thankfully, you can buy clean versions of her songs on iTunes. I would love to play one of her videos so that you could hear her voice, but they are too filthy. So just go to iTunes and listen to her amazing voice. She is one of my favorites. Just make sure you click on the clean versions. These are the songs to check out.....
  • Love Is A Losing Game (my favorite)
  • You Know I'm No Good
  • Wake Up Alone
  • Tears Dry On Their Own

It looks like it will be a beautiful day today, so get out and enjoy it.
