Little Black Dress

I love Audrey Hepburn. She is, in my opinion, the greatest actress of all time. My favorite Audrey movie is, of course, Breakfast at Tiffany's. That movie just makes me happy. From her character's name, Holly Golightly, to the scene where she sings "Moon River", to the closing scene where she searches for "cat" in the rain. It is just SO good. But my favorite scene is the opening one where she is wearing that fabulous black dress with all the jewels, eating her pastry in front of Tiffany's. It is perfect. Truman Capote was a literary genius.

I recently purchased this great book appropriately titled, "The Little Black Dress, Vintage Treasure" written by Didier Ludot. Really it is a picture book, of beautiful black dresses, but it does have an introduction about the history of the little black dress, including a timeline. It is a great book.

Back to Audrey, she often wore black, she must have understood the beauty of wearing black. Everyone looks good in it, it is the most flattering color to wear, and it is slimming. I too love wearing black, when one looks in my closet, it is a sea of black, with a few splashes of color here and there. It is actually hard for me to purchase something other than black. I'm working on it though.

I found the little black dress of my dreams about a year and a half ago. I am working to get myself in shape to buy and wear this dress. It is going to take some time, but I am working on it. A picture of this dress hangs in my bathroom as inspiration.
