Yesterday, Lily and I were in the car headed to town, and we were listening to Katharine's new album. Lily turned to me and asked, "Mom, what song should I sing when I'm on American Idol?"
I said, "I don't know, what do you think you should sing?"
She said, "Maybe that seagull song I learned in preschool."
I said, "That's a good idea. That song would be perfect."
Then she went on to ask me how far Hollywood is from here and I said it was a long, long ways. She asked if it was as far as Portland, and I told her it was farther.
She said, "Mom, I'm going to need a lot of food then."
This totally cracked me up because whenever we go on trips, we stop for snacks, and she figured it was going to take a lot of food for her trip to Hollywood when she makes it on American Idol singing the "seagull song"...which goes as follows;
"Seagull, seagull flying in the air
flying, flying everywhere
over the ships, over the rocks
fishing for the fishes there."
I hope she wins!
